For over a year, Hadley Anne Johnson has specifically been working with fabric that is soiled, stained, and torn. Johnson’s current work is made from the silk and cotton material that other artists and designers literally had in their trash. She collages these discarded pieces together to build new yardage that she in turn makes into the womenswear sold in her KC Showroom. A graduate from Parsons Paris in 2010 with a degree in Fashion Design, Johnson is seeking to create her design practice around her relationship to her customers, and being conscious of the love and intuition that is created when a connection is made. Johnson makes fashion that doesn’t focus on seasons and buyers, but rather producing heirloom designs that are unique and can be passed down.
