Heather Beffa holds a BFA in Printmaking from Kansas City Art Institute and is pursuing an MA in Art History from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. As an artist and arts administrator, she is dedicated to expressing the needs of artists and arts organizations to those in positions of power. She is driven by the strengths of artists: creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to expression. As the Grants Manager, Heather facilitates hundreds of applications for funding a year, convenes decision committees, administers approvals and denials, and provides critical feedback to applicants. She mentors individual artists and arts organizations, and as part of doing this work, renovated the online ArtsKC Resource center to include local, national and international opportunities. Heather managed the Board and Committee Matchmaking program, which prepared future service members to join community arts leadership. She maintains several databases of artists and arts organizations, which keeps ArtsKC in good contact with its primary constituents. She assesses grantmaking data for use in foundation grant reporting, and to leverage in advocacy messaging. Before joining ArtsKC, she built experience in operations in the corporate rail industry, as a picture framer in small business, and as a prepress technician in commercial printing. Heather serves on the Planned Industrial Expansion Authority Crossroads Advisory Committee. Heather is also a frequent audience member and patron of the arts across disciplines.
