In partnership with the Mid-America Regional Council, Data Academy is a program designed specifically with arts professionals in mind. Its purpose is to bring data storytelling and visualization forward as an effective means to engage audiences, from patrons to board members to the community at large.

OVERVIEW

ArtsKC is partnering with the Mid-America Regional Council to offer the Data Academy for Arts Administrators. This customized Data Academy curriculum is designed specifically with arts professionals in mind to bring data storytelling and visualization forward as an effective means to engage audiences from patrons to board members to the community at large. The program is delivered through MARC’s Government Training Institute (GTI), a proven leader in offering training and development of the highest quality to meet nonprofit and government workforce development needs.

This two-day, live, instructor-led program will guide participants through a series of topics including:

-Introduction to Data

-Data Visualization

-Data Storytelling

-Marketing Intelligence Dashboard

 

 

The program will conclude with participants presenting their own data storytelling piece at ArtsKC First Fridays, on March 1st.

-Monday, February 26, 9am-3:30pm and Tuesday, February 27, 9am-12pm

-Friday, March 1, First Fridays Final Presentation

eligibility

-Applicant must have an administrative role within an arts organization within our five-region counties (Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties in MO and Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in KS)

-Must be able to attend all fully in-person Data Academy sessions on February 26, 27, and First Friday event on Friday, March 1.

-Space is limited, select only one person from your organization to submit an application

PROGRAM FEES

There are no program fees. Participation is determined by acceptance into the program.

INSTRUCTOR

Amanda Graor, Chief Innovation Officer, Mid-America Regional Council

 

Amanda Graor is the Chief Innovation Officer and Deputy Director of Research Services at the Mid-America Regional Council in Kansas City. She is responsible for increasing MARC’s capacity to advance regional goals and collaborative initiatives through innovation in public policy and process improvement including the strategic deployment of data and technology.  She has been with MARC for over 15 years with work areas over time including air quality, workforce transportation, energy policy and climate strategy. Amanda also spent time as an Economic Mobility Policy Fellow with the Center for Applied Public Research at Johns Hopkins University and is an advisor to the Evidence for Policy fellows through Stanford Impact Labs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Earth System Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas and a certificate in infographics and data visualization from Parsons School of Design.
