ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council seeks a dynamic and experienced professional for the Director of Resource Development position.  This high-impact position provides broad-based support for the arts community and will lead a team of associates and volunteers for the solicitation and cultivation of all corporate, foundation, and individual donor relationships, and oversight for grant writing and reporting activities for the organization. The Director of Resource Development is also responsible for pursuing new and innovative strategies to broaden ArtsKC’s outreach.  This includes securing major corporate sponsorships and other necessary funding for new programs and initiatives. Under the direction of the President and CEO, this leadership position will strive to overcome systemic and societal barriers to ensure inclusive and equitable participation in the arts. 

Primary Responsibilities

-Develops and maintains a comprehensive annual fundraising plan (currently at an annual budget of $2.2 -$2.7 million dollars), and implements both annual and long-range goals, objectives, and strategies to maximize support through various sources including individuals, corporations, foundations, grants, government grants and special events

-Renews existing donors and acquires new donors for increased annual giving 

-Builds relationships with donors to increase lifetime giving potential

-Leads and directs the efforts of a development team

-Works closely with the Marketing and Communications staff and other associates to develop strategic messaging materials and branded collateral

-Identifies new foundation financial support, meets grant application and report deadlines, coordinates direct mail and email solicitations, and special events for cultivating existing and potential donors

-Tracks data, prepares reports, and forecasts revenues in coordination with the Finance team.  Plans and submits annual budgets to document return on investment (ROI) and set goals for growth

-Represents the agency before funders, board members, volunteers, arts patrons and donors

-Remains current on professional fundraising trends, leading strategy in this uncertain and changing environment

Qualifications

-Seven to ten years of experience or a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred

-CFRE credential or similar fundraising accreditation preferred

-Minimum of 5-7 years of increasing leadership experience, with preference in a not-for-profit organization

-Experience working with not-for-profit volunteer board members

-Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, with an emphasis on financial budgeting and grants reporting

-Experience in grant writing to foundations and corporations

-Strong marketing, communications, and presentation skills

-Experience in leading large-scale special events is preferred

-Strong working knowledge of Constant Contact, SalesForce CRM, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and project management systems

Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $67,700 – $85,000.  Other compensation includes excellent health, vision and dental insurance, 401K Plan and life and disability insurance.  The base salary will depend on skills, qualifications and experience.  This role is a full-time, exempt position.

ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council seeks a relationship-oriented, customer-centric communicator to advance the Audience Development Practice and other key programs and services that support the regional arts ecosystem. The Program Associate, ArtsKC Programs, will focus on implementing existing programs and services that assist in the success of the non-profit arts organizations and practicing artists throughout our region. This position will report directly to the Director, Audience Development Practice and will support key functions and guide the critical path for the ArtsKC’s Programs Team. This individual will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with businesses, arts and cultural organizations, artists, and community partners to support all program and service activities. The aim of this important role is to ensure all we do is service focused, timely, and provides the positive impact needed in the industry and to work to overcome systemic and societal barriers to ensure inclusive and equitable participation in the arts.

Primary Responsibilities 

-Maintain in-depth working knowledge of the Audience Development Practice (ADP) programs, serve as the first point of contact (via phone, email, or in-person) and communicate program information clearly and effectively to lead staff members 

-Represent ArtsKC in various capacities for the ADP including disseminating program information and merchandise, attending live performances in KC community, hosting event booths or tables, on-site support during training programs

-Daily management of the ADP Programs in collaboration with the Director, Audience Development Practice and Manager, The Drop 

-Coordinate and schedule meetings with internal and external stakeholders as it pertains to the ADP

-Prepare documents and files for distribution for the ADP programs

-Provide logistical support and services for other ArtsKC programs such as Creative Leaders and the Kansas City Neuro Arts Coalition.  Serve as the first point of contact (via phone, in-person or email) for all participants for other key programs and services.  

-Track progress and communicate workflow through project management software  

-Develop superb working relationships with staff, businesses, artists, arts organizations, civic groups, volunteers, partners, and donors

Other Responsibilities

-Serve as an expert contact and referral source for the arts and culture community 

-General event & staff support as needed, including mass mailings, assisting with presentations, meetings, etc. 

-Attend weekly staff team meetings, track weekly progress 

-Some evening hours required, with flexibility, as needed for special events or performances 

Qualifications

-1-2 years of administrative or program experience in the arts, culture or related field or a bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of experience

-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Salesforce and project tracking program (ClickUp) a plus

-Experience in an arts-related organization preferred

-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

-Excellent project management system skills

-Ability to embrace and learn new and emerging technologies. Basic knowledge of HTML, Google Analytics, SEO, Photoshop and WordPress a plus

-The ability to articulate the relevance of ArtsKC programs to a diverse population

-Must be able to manage multiple projects on deadline in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities

-High levels of motivation, energy, and confidence

-Experience with e-learning software is a plus

-Working knowledge of evaluation, data collection and data analysis methodologies preferred

The base salary range for this position is between $36,400 – $46,300. Other compensation includes excellent health, vision and dental insurance, 401K Plan and life and disability insurance.  The base salary will depend on skills, qualifications and experience.  This role is a full-time, non-exempt grant-funded position through June 2025 with the potential to extend beyond the grant period based on performance and funding.
