Dani Milton is a screenwriter from Kansas City, MO. Dani’s scripts have received accolades, including her historical drama-romance, DEVIL’S MOUTH, which was a 2022 Academy Nicholl Semifinalist. Dani was a 2024 Fellow in the Moonshot Pilot Accelerator with her survival thriller/mystery pilot, SOLUS, and was a 2022 Hedgebrook Writer in Residence.

Dani is the writer, director and producer of The First Martian, a sci-fi short film about a scientist’s fight for her reproductive rights on Mars. The grant funds will be used for post-production expenses to complete the film, and costs for early screenings of the film in the KC area with local organizations.

Dani centers Black women in stories across space and time because, growing up, she never saw herself represented in the genres she loves.
