What is a regional cultural plan?

A regional cultural plan…

Identifies the cultural needs of the five counties. Where is arts education unavailable? What neighborhoods could benefit from arts revitalization?

Evaluates existing resources. What do we already have in the community that could be used to meet these needs?

• Creates a plan for change. The final step is adoption of the plan by the participating counties.

How does this benefit you?

A regional cultural plan means…

• We are all working together. Whether you live in Liberty or Lee’s Summit, Olathe or Kansas City, Kansas – a regional cultural plan means that community leaders will be working towards common goals.

• A collaborative, focused effort to improve arts education, arts collaboration, communications, and arts economic development.

Why now?

The Kansas City metropolitan region has a growing reputation as a thriving hub for arts and culture in the Midwest, with $1.57 billion dollars of public and private investment in new arts, cultural, and entertainment infrastructure in the last decade.  Driven by this ambitious vision of the future, community leaders across a number of sectors have expressed a desire to explore how the area’s remarkable mix of arts and cultural assets can help them achieve goals such as a higher quality of life, more successful economic development efforts, and increased access to arts and culture for all local residents.
