ARTS & ECONOMIC PROSPERITY 6 (AEP6)

The newly released Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6) is an economic and social impact study of the nation’s nonprofit arts and culture industry. Building on its 30-year legacy as the largest and most inclusive study of its kind, AEP6 provides detailed findings on 373 regions from across all 50 states and Puerto Rico—ranging in population from 4,000 to 4 million—and representing rural, suburban, and large urban communities.

The resulting regional data from AEP6 was identified through 267 organization surveys and 1,787 audience surveys, including 279 surveys from attendees of BIPOC and ALAANA organizations. As the regional arts council, ArtsKC strives to equip our arts ecosystem and its advocates with tools, resources, and data that will propel their work forward.

Ways to use AEP6 data:

-Make a solid comparison to other industries in the community to show the vast economic impact of the arts.

-Be able to “speak the language of business,” giving artists and arts organizations confidence and credibility in interacting with businesses or elected officials while fundraising or advocating.

-Prove that an investment in and relationship with the arts community is advantageous, resulting in jobs and revenue for locally-based businesses not typically associated with the arts.
