I am a queer visual artist and illustrator who creates work that tells the stories of unique characters and personalities found in nature. While elements of my work can be fantastical, they are built on a foundation of realism. Each natural element that I paint has a deliberate association that contributes to the meaning of the piece. My work is intimately tied to the land and the environment. Research about plants and animals specific to my current and past residences has been a crucial part of my practice. The birds, flowers, and critters I see in my backyard and surrounding forests have always fascinated me, and they have become an important aspect of my work. I believe that they’re main characters in their own stories and they lead lives just as compelling and complicated as our own. My work explores relationships in nature, including both human and non-human forms of natural intelligence and I explore the ecological communities that make up my local environment. I grew up in the Chicago-land area and I am currently based out of Kansas City, MO. As an independent artist, illustrator, and graphic designer; I’ve been contributing my work professionally since 2010. Over the course of my life I have become attuned with nature though observation and interaction with local and diverse wildlife. Via digital illustration, I bridge the gap between technology and nature and I hope I inspire viewers to become more invested in the natural world around them.
