Gary Wilks is a painter whose work is rooted in a painterly, impressionistic approach, emphasizing movement, atmosphere and expressive brushwork over rigid detail.  Painting since his high school years, he is best known for his portrait work, capturing not just the likeness but presence and personality.  Gary also creates landscapes and still lives that carry the same sense of rhythm, tone and emotional depth

Wilks has produced over 450 paintings displayed at the T-Mobile Center and continues to complete commissioned work, primarily portraits.  He has also undertaken projects for the University of Texas with his work exhibited across multiple states.  Grounded in tradition yet executed with a loose expressive hand his paintings aim to feel both timeless and immediate.
