NOW SHOWING ARTIST

Roy Inman

I have been shagging photographs around Kansas City, “Paris of the Plains,” for more decades than I like to think about. My first published image was in 1957, a basketball shot of Roger Johnson making a layup at Northwest Junior High School in Kansas City, Kansas. As the years and necessities rolled by, I began to realize that I most enjoyed photographing a wide variety of subjects, including sports. My 17-year career at the Kansas City Star, first as a staff shooter, then as director of photography for Star Magazine, afforded the opportunity to cover assignments that varied from photographing former Kansas Senator Bob Dole (RIP), to at sea in the Pacific aboard the USS Kansas City, USS Enterprise, and other naval vessels, to the sky slopes at Aspen, Super Bowl IV, etc., etc., etc. My portfolio of images reflects that continuing obsession, and now includes abstract, semi-abstract photographs, and an extensive collection of both film and digital files of all Kansas City landmarks, events and the four seasons.
